The International Association of Historians of Asia (IAHA) was established in 1960 as a professional organization dedicated to promote research on the discipline of history all across the world through Asian prism. The first IAHA Conference was held in this pursuit in 1960 in Manila and then onwards it has become a permanent feature of academic activities of the International Association of Historians of Asia. The last IAHA Conference (IAHA 23) was held in Malaysia in 2014.
During the 23rd IAHA Conference in the University of Utara, Malaysia; Pakistan was chosen to host the next IAHA Conference i.e. IAHA 24th (IAHA 2016). Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan was proposed as the location of IAHA 2016 and the IAHA organizing committee eventually approved Islamabad venue of the conference. More than 300 academics and independent researchers from universities and organizations; local and international institutions are expected to participate in the IAHA 2016. This conference will be organized by the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR), Centre of excellence Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad in collaboration with the PEDA International and the HEC. The IAHA Conference 2016 is expected to provide a platform for Asian and international historians to cross breed their ideas through mutual exchange of knowledge.
